Acrylics on Canvas

48" X 36" acrylic on canvas. I was in a deli a few years ago and everyone seemed to be in a disagreeable mood.

The Cheese Shop

48" X 36" acrylic on canvas,

These are the wrestlers at the old PCW wrestling at the Holiday Inn on Pembina in Winnipeg.

Wolsely Organics

(It's spelled incorrectly on purpose)

16" X 24" acrylic on board,

Wolseley is a great neighbourhood located in central Winnipeg. When I returned from China I moved into a little house there with my dogs. I love the neighbourhood houses and the people who live there.

Caught in Time, 24" X 16"

acrylic on board

Part of my series of 'Time'. Prisoner to the clock.

The Bird

16" X 20", acrylic on canvas,

Once while downtown in the city I saw a group dressed up from the Fringe Festival trying to get a pet bird down from a window. It was a strange sight.

Mr. Gumby

48" X 60", acrylic on canvas

This painting describes my life in past, present and future terms. Each person depicted in the painting represents a someone in my life who has influenced me, eg. mother, father, professor, hockey coach.

The Perpetual Line, 24" X 48", acrylic on canvas,

There is always a lineup at the women's washroom!

The Line Change

24" X 48", acrylic on canvas

This painting was part of a sports art show at a local gallery and now hangs in my son's house.

Bocce at the Yellow Store

20" X 16", acrylic on board

I took this idea from the Bocce league which is played every summer beside the Mona Lisa restaurante in Winnipeg.

Angels for the Homeless

12 " X 9" acrylic on board

How do people survive on the streets of Winnipeg? Especially our weather!

Street Hockey

16" X 20" acrylic on board,

I grew up spending hours on Beech St, in Smiths Falls, Ontario playing road hockey. You hardly see this anymore.

Fifty Percent Off

48" X 60" acrylic on canvas,

When I sold this piece at the Manitoba Art Expo I was asked by the purchaser if the painting was actually 50% off. Funny, or at least I thought so.

Punch and The Bee

8" X 10" acrylic on board,

This is my Jack Russell called Punch. She is a world traveler having gone to China and back. She's so smart!!!

Punch and The Fish

8" X 10" acrylic on board,

Punch has an eye on a fish which she never came close to catching.

Punch and The Spider

8" X 10" acrylic on board,

Punch is curious about everything while she reads a book on the beach. Maybe she is studying Chinese as she communicated well with the other dogs in Beijing.

Pidgeon Indignity

12" X 24" acrylic on canvas

My brother Dave gets the biggest picture on the site. While in Italy with my brother he looked over at a statue in a piazza and said to me 'I don't think I would want to be immortalized as a bronze statue because you would have pidgeon poop all over you for centuries'. Good reason for a painting!

Game Day

36" X 48" acrylic on canvas.

This is one of my first paintings. It actually came in third at an art show. The comments on the juriors card were, very interesting, busy but I don't think he knows how to draw too well. I think I am a little better now.

More Fish

20" X 16" acrylic on board.

Doesn't look like the guy who catches, cleans!

Marj's Delivery

24" X 36" acrylic on board.

My mother used to always get snacks ready when my Dad brought a friend home. My Dad worked on the railroad not on a beer truck. The name Tudor Arms is the name of a pub my friend James Pollack once owned in Whitby, Ontario.

Looks of Concern

12" X 24" acrylic on canvas.

This was my first published painting which actually won a contest for artists with less than 3 years under their belt. These old fellows were coming out of a Legion and saw a scantly clad woman walking by. I was at the stop light in my car when I noticed this. Some liked it, some didn't and some were a little confused.

I Am Not A Landscape Painter

24" X 36" acrylic on board.

I was asked once why I didn't paint landscapes because people like these more to put in their living rooms. I could sell more. Poor excuse for making a painting. I don't do landscapes!

The Last Pee,(memories of the Winnipeg Arena)

12" X 39" acrylic on canvas.

This is perhaps my most popular painting as far as print sales go. While in line to pee at the MTS Centre, during a Jets game, guys were complaining that now there was a line up. At the old arena the trough handled a great volume of pee. No wait!

Post Pattern at the Trough

12" X 39" acrylic on canvas.

When the Winnipeg Blue Bombers saw The Last Pee they commisioned me to paint this piece. On the walls are past and present logos. In this painting and The Last Pee painting many of my friends are depicted here playing with themselves. Sorry boys!

Bocce (The toss)

12" X 39" acrylic on canvas.

The ball has just been tossed at the bocce court (or is that pitch) and our spectators react to it. Again as in the other bocce painting it was inspired by the Mona Lisa Bocce League!

Bowling Adoration

20" X 16" acrylic on board.

Academy Lanes is a different looking building close to my house. Here bowlers are shown being treated as rock stars as they enter the front doors. Does this ever happen to bowlers? Maybe somewhere, where bowlers, dart throwers, lawn bowlers and curlers are admired. Notice I did not put poker players in this sentence. PLEASE take poker off the sports channel!!!!

The Wawa

12" X 18" acrylic on board.

While in a small town outside Havana I noticed many old Cuban buses, which probably needed engine jobs and new paint jobs, 10 years ago (my bus is nicer than that, paint-wise). Their Cuban nickname was 'Wawa'.

Thompson Turkeys

16" X 20" acrylic on canvas

I have a practice in northern Manitoba in the small city of Thompson. It is a mining community where the ravens are huge and very clever!

The Great Paint Roller Exhibition

24" X 36" acrylic on canvas

Remember years ago when the National Art Gallery in Ottawa

paid $4,000,000 for a painting that had three stripes on it. I don't

get it, but perhaps I am not thinking on the same wavelength as

the National Gallery.

Designer Attack

16" X 20" acrylic on canvas

I have been married a couple of times but the last time it was all about the designer labels.

The Professor

12" X 8" acrylic on canvas

One of two cartoon paintings I was asked to paint describing myself. I do have hair.
